Unit 2 - Cells

  • Students will be able to predict the movement of molecules across a concentration gradient.
  • Students will be able to differentiate between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells and explain the characteristics of each.
  • Students will be able to describe the function of the nucleus, mitochondria, chloroplasts and ribosomes.
  • Students will be able to deduce the type of cell from a set of choices based upon its characteristics.
  • Students will be able to illustrate the structure of a cell membrane and trace the path of molecules as they interact with the membrane.
  • Students will be able to explain the functions of lipids.
  • Students will be able to draw and recognize the key parts of lipids as well as identify the different types.
  • Students will be able to identify which molecules require energy to diffuse and track their movement.
